Student Ambassador Work

At the start of the year I applied to be an outreach Ambassador at UAL. This helped me to gain experience talking in front of groups of students about my work.
I created a presentation showcasing my journey to and through UAL, starting with my time in UAL insights in sixth form, up to my DPS year.
I had the opportunity to present this to students at college and sixth form visits.

My most valued experience was having the opportunity to work during the UAL insights Spring School where I assisted Tashan from Games Design over the week, helping him to carry out the sessions. I engaged with students throughout the day and answered questions regarding their tasks as well as the work I do at UAL. In particular I helped to break down the difference between BA Games Art and BA Games Design as people often confuse the two.

At the end of this week I presented to a large group of students who had rotated between games design, illustration and animation throughout the week. This has been the biggest group I’ve presented to and helped me to develop my speaking skills as it was important I speak loudly and clearly.

I remade my presentation based on what I saw from other ambassadors’ slides, namely removing text to make the slides more visually interesting and relying on notes on my phone to speak through the slides.
