I attended the IntoGames games fair in Downham Bromley where there were lots of booths advertising either courses or indie game studios.
I got the chance to speak to a few of the game developers there who were all very friendly and answered all the questions I had surrounding how they got into the industry and advice for students wanting to do the same. I also had the opportunity to have a shirt one to one with a concept artist who looked through my portfolio and gave me some advice on how to reformat some of my work.
When I first arrived to the fair I was by myself and didn’t have the confidence to go up to the tables to talk to people. A short while later a couple of people from DPS arrived so I was able to walk around with them. This made me much more confidence and comfortable going up to people and I was able to start asking questions. Had I been alone I feel I would have been unable to gather the courage to interact and have kept to myself.
